Kick-Off meeting of the 2nd Mediterranean Water Forum, June 18th, 2014 in Rabat, Morocco

Within the framework of the Mediterranean Preparatory Process at the 7th World Water Forum (Daegu, South Korea, April 2015), the Second Mediterranean Water Forum will be held on 26-27 November 2014 in Murcia (Spain) upon invitation of the President of the Region of Murcia.

 Kick-Off meeting of the 2nd Mediterranean Water Forum took place on Wednesday, June 18th, 2014 in Rabat, Morocco under the high patronage of the Ministry Delegated to the Ministry of Energy, Mines, Water and Environment, in charge of Water, Kingdom of Morocco for which you are kindly invited to participate. The objective of this event was to bring together around targeted themes the main stakeholders of the Water Community in the Mediterranean: namely: decision-making bodies, local and regional authorities, parliamentarians, donors, representatives of the private sector and experts, regional networks, other civil society stakeholders and State representatives.

MEWINA Libya SOW Consultation Workshop, 12-15 June 2014, Tunisia

In the frame of Monitoring and Evaluation of the Water Sector in the North Africa Project (MEWINA), that was implemented by the Centre for Environment and Development for the Arab Region and Europe (CEDARE).  Dr. Khaled AbuZeid, MEWINA Project Regional Coordinator has participated and organized the MEWINA Libya SOW Consultation Workshop that was held from 12 to 15 of June 2014 in Tunisia.

Legal frameworks for cooperation on Transboundary Waters – Key aspects and opportunities for the Arab Countries” Key Aspects and Opportunities for the Arab Countries, 11 – 12 June 2014, Tunis

Dr. Khaled AbuZeid, Regional Water Resources Programme Manager representing CEADRE as a partner with the Arab League participated in the Legal frameworks for cooperation on Transboundary Waters – Key aspects and opportunities for the Arab Countries- Key Aspects and Opportunities for the Arab Countries, was held from 11 to 12 June 2014 in Tunisia.

MEWINA National Baseline SOW Report Consultation Workshop, 18 – 21 May 2014, Mauritania

In the frame of Monitoring and Evaluation of the Water Sector in the North Africa Project (MEWINA), that was implemented by the Centre for Environment and Development for the Arab Region and Europe (CEDARE).  Dr. Khaled AbuZeid, MEWINA Project Regional Coordinator has participated and organized the National Baseline SOW Report Consultation Workshop that was held from 18 to 21 May 2014 in Mauritania.

Workshop on “Global Target for Water – within the Sustainable Development Goals Beyond 2015, and Workshop on” National Strategy for Reuse of Treated Sewage in Egypt until 2030”, 30 April 2014, Cairo, Egypt

The Workshop on "Global Target for Water – within the Sustainable Development Goals Beyond 2015, and the Workshop on" National Strategy for Reuse of Treated Sewage in Egypt until 2030” were organized by the Egyptian water partnership (EWP) in cooperation with the Centre for environment and development for the Arab region and Europe (CEDARE). The workshop was held in Cairo on April 30, 2014.  The meeting was attended by experts in the field of water resources and representatives from relevant ministries, namely the Ministry of Irrigation and Water Resources, Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Ministry of Housing, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Industry and The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and also representatives of local, regional and international organizations working in the field of water and the members of the Egyptian Water Partnership. The workshop was inaugurated by H.E. Dr. Mahmoud Abu-Zeid, President of the Egyptian Water Partnership.

Dr. Khalid AbuZeid, General Secretary of the Egyptian Water Partnership and Regional Water Resources Programme Manager has presented the “National Strategy for Reuse of Treated Sewage in Egypt 2030”.

1st Workshop on the Publishing the Annual Report on Available Water Resources in the Arab Region, 22 – 24 April 2014, Beirut

Dr. Khaled AbuZeid, MEWINA Project Regional Coordinator, in the 1st Workshop on the Publishing the Annual Report on Available Water Resources in the Arab Region held from 22 to 24 April 2014 in Beirut, has presented the MEWINA SOW 15 Categories of indicators as a proposal for consideration in the Arab Water Report, especially that the 6 North Africa Countries and in addition to 4 other countries in Africa Comprise 10 African Countries that are common with the 22 Arab Countries. MEWINA Coordinator also presented the MEWINA project setup as a model that could be followed in the preparation of the Arab Water Report, with the establishment of M&E units in the Ministries in charge of Water.
