Sustainable Transport in Egypt (2019), “Cleaner Fuels for Cleaner Air”

Throughout June 18-19, 2019, the Sustainable Transport in Egypt (STE 2019) international seminar was held in Cairo with the theme of Cleaner Fuels for Cleaner Air. It was co-organized by the Center for Environment and Development for the Arab Region and Europe (CEDARE) with the Ministry of Environment of Egypt, UN Environment and the Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC), and in cooperation with the Egyptian General Petroleum Company (EGPC), and the African Refiners & Distributors Association (ARA).

GI Matrouh project participated in the Agri Business Exhibition 23-25 February 2019

The GI Matrouh project participated in the “31st International Agricultural Exhibition for Africa and the Middle East (Agribusiness)”, held on 23 -25 February 2019.
Exhibition visitors counted up to 5000 visitors from around the world.

The GI project is participating in SAHARA exhibition during the period from 16 to 19 September 2018

“Good Agricultural Practices on Geographic Indication for Sustainable Production and Increased Marketing Competence to Enhance Rural Livelihood in Matrouh” Project has participated in the 31st International Agricultural Exhibition for Africa and the Middle East (Sahara), held from )16th -19th) September 2018 at the Egyptian Center for International Exhibitions in Cairo. Sahara Exhibition attendees included, Representatives from EU-JRDP, Project Partners and different public.
The exhibition has shown a great success so it is our pleasure to thank all who contributed to this event for their precious efforts.

Awareness for participation in solid waste management events in Minya & Fayoum

The project initiated its awareness activities which spread knowledge among the communities in Fayoum and Minya. Fayoum villages are as follows: Qalamshah, Manshah Ramzy, and Abu Dafia, and in Minya villages: Abu Qarqas al-Balad, Bani Muhammad Sharawi and Al-Hawasliya. The awareness campaign educates the residents about the adverse effects caused by solid and agricultural waste on the environment and health.

Water and Nature Conservation Knowledge sharing in MENA region

Event_1_Water and Nature Forum photoCEDARE represented by Dr. Amr AbdelMeguid, Environmental Governance Programme Manager, in collaboration with RKNOW partners held a regional workshop on Water and Nature Conservation Knowledge Sharing in the Arab Region in Sharm El Sheikh on 12-14 May 2015. H.E. Dr. Hossam Moghazy, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation of Egypt, inaugurated the workshop emphasizing the importance of knowledge sharing between Arab countries to build on experiences and lessons learned. Dr. Moghazy also highlighted the Ministry’s activities in the fields of water governance, water technologies, and use of renewable energy in groundwater pumping for water and energy conservation.

Agriculture Food Security and Biotechnology Conference

Event_3_Bio-technology Conference OpeningCEDARE represented by the Environmental Governance Programme co-organized with ISESCO, IUCN, the National Research Center of Egypt, and COMSATS an International Conference on “Agriculture, Food Security and Bio-technology” on 8-9 June 2015, in Cairo.  In the opening ceremony, Dr. Amr AbdelMeguid said that fresh water is continuously threatened by external factors that affect its sustainability.  Available water is decreasing as a result of its pollution due to urbanization, industrialization, and other factors in addition to Climate Change. the consequences of water scarcity and pollution are very acute and that the first sector to suffer will be the agriculture sector.
