1st Round of the Green Business Model Training Module commences under NISE

On October 9th, 2022, the first day of the training program on Green Business Model Training Module took place. The module consists of 5 sessions and is based on the methodology developed by MedWaves to guide green entrepreneurs through their entrepreneurial journey, from defining the idea itself up to the commercialization of products and services, whether green projects addressing environmental aspects at large, or blue projects related to fisheries, maritime, cleaning up the Nile and the like. SwitchMed Down the Nile Project to support Sustainable Economy and Green and Blue Entrepreneurship kicks-off

On 9 June, 2022 & in the framework of the “SwitchMed Down the Nile Project to support Sustainable Economy and Green and Blue Entrepreneurship in Egypt”, the Centre for Environment and Development for the Arab Region and Europe (CEDARE) in partnership with the Egyptian Ministry of Environment (MOE) organized the first Consultation Session at the MOE premises in Cairo. The Project is part of SwitchMed and comes in-line with Egypt’s current substantial efforts in reinforcing medium, small, and micro enterprises.

COP14 Sharm ElSheikh: “National Initiative for Reducing Plastic Bags Consumption” Awareness Session

As part of the activities of the 14th Meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention in Sharm ElSheikh, CEDARE in partnership with the Ministry of Environment co-organized an awareness session on “Plastic Bags Pollution of the Environment”. SwitchMed Synergy Workshop in Cairo: Egyptian change-makers and supporters gather to participate in policy development, 1st Oct 2018

On October 1st, 2018, the SwitchMed Synergy Workshop was held in Cairo for “Green Entrepreneurs, Environmental Grassroots Initiatives ‎and NGOs advancing towards Social Eco-Innovation in Egypt”. It aimed to validate the white paper developed by UNCPRAC, CEDARE and EEAA through stakeholder interviews through panel discussions with experts and a synergy workshop as a final round of stakeholders consultations. CEDARE partakes in Egypt’s World Environment Day 2018

Whilst the international community is celebrating World Environment Day, Egypt has it done its own way blended with Ramadan flavor on 5th of June at the InterContinental CityStars Hotel, Cairo. A grand event was organized by the Ministry of Environment in partnership with CEDARE, UN Environment, & SwitchMed Programme funded by the EU. The United Nations theme of the year “Beating Plastic Pollution” was quite significant at the national level as the date was significant well as. This date marks the birth of a one-year old initiative: the “National Initiative for Reducing Plastic Bags Consumption” which was officially launched by the Minister of Environment on this very day in 2017.

Minister of Environment propagates Another Alternative for Single-Use Plastic Bags  

Again, H. E. Dr. Khaled Fahmy, Minister of Environment, gets in person together with Egyptian consumers of plastic bags. This took place in a fresh and lively morning through his visit to Maadi Club on Friday 4th of May, 2018, after he had visited 4 hypermarket chains 5 months earlier. In the context of the National Initiative of Reducing Plastic Bags’ Consumption, Dr. Fahmy, CEDARE, and the ministry’s top management and executives visited Maadi Club accompanied by a large number of media representatives.
