CEDARE represented by Dr. Khaled AbuZeid, attends the Second Expert Group meeting. The meeting reviewed the Work Plans and Terms of Reference for the first four Working Groups, added detail and commit to action for the Operational Design process, examined the draft IR Collaboration Strategy for GRAF and lay the groundwork for the official launch at the Global Platform for DRR in May 2019.
CEDARE's presentations on Water-Energy-Food Nexus, and on Climate Change & Water delivered by Dr. Khaled AbuZeid, Cedare – Centre for Environment & Development for the Arab Region & Europe, Regional Water Director, attracts attention at the 9th Water Experts Group (WEG) meeting of the Union for the Mediterranean, held in Athens, Greece, November 5-6, 2018. The UFM WEG addresses various themes such as Water Employment & Migration, Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystems Nexus, Water Supply and Sanitation, and Water & Climate Change Adaptation.
CEDARE represented by Dr. Khaled AbuZeid, attends the AMCOW -African Ministers Council on Water 11th General Assembly meeting and the 7th Africa Water Week held in Libreville, Gabon, October 29th to November 2nd, 2018.
CEDARE participates in the AMCOW -African Ministers Council on WaterTechnical Advisory Committee meeting in Gabon (26-28 October, 2018). Dr. Khaled AbuZeid, CEDARE Regional Water Director and officer-in-Charge of the Technical Secretariat for North AMCOW, hosted by CEDARE, delivered CEDARE's goodwill statement marking its 15th year of support since the inception of AMCOW, and confirming its continued support to North African Ministries of Water in their AMCOW activities.

The Cairo Water Week is considered as the biggest water-related event in Egypt and is organized annually by the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation in collaboration with national, regional and international partners. It aims to promote water awareness and foster innovative approaches to face the most pressing water related challenges, keep updates on global movements to address water challenges and identify modern tools and techniques for managing water resources. The Week started its first edition this year with the main theme “Water Conservation for Sustainable Development”. It took place under the patronage of H.E. Mr. Abdel Fatah El-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Cairo during the period from 14-18 October 2018.
