4th Roundtable Meeting on Sustainable Consumption and Production in the Arab Region 17-18 June 2013, Cairo – Egypt

The 4th Roundtable Meeting on Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP) in the Arab Region was organized by the United Arab LegueNations Environment Programme (UNEP) in partnership with the League of Arab States (LAS), the UN Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (UN-ESCWA) and the Centre for Environment and Development in the Arab Region and Europe (CEDARE). 

The main objective of the meeting was to initiate and facilitate the preparation of a regional action plan for the implementation of Rio+20 outcomes and to continue showcasing best practices/lessons learned, reviewing progress and exchanging views on the needs and priorities of the region to promote the shift to SCP and the transition to a Green Economy in the context of sustainable development and poverty eradication.  The discussions benefited from the participation of government officials, industry representatives, civil society, academics, and NCPCs’ representatives. International Experts and concerned UN agencies enhanced the deliberations and discussions during the Meeting.
