As part of the EU project for Sustainable Hotels (SHMILE-2), the Center for Environment and Development in the Arab Region and Europe (CEDARE) has the pleasure to announce its upcoming conference for sharing of experiences among south-Mediterranean countries on Eco-labels for Hotels.
The conference is held in collaboration with partners in Egypt, Tunis, Jordan and partners in Europe, and will take place on the 11th and 12th of March in Bibliotheca Alexandrina, the main event, followed by a third day, the 13th of March, offering a field visit to an Eco-labeled hotel and a tour through its facilities. The conference aims to exchange experience about Eco-labels in the tourism and accommodation services in South-Mediterranean countries. Sessions and panel discussions will cover topics of the EU Eco-label and other similar eco-labels, and also different experiences across Egypt, Jordan and Tunis, perceived benefits and challenges to sustainable tourism, and to discuss potential financial support and incentive schemes that could facilitate the development of this field.
CEDARE and the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities (MOTA) of Jordan is co-organizing the conference in collaboration with their partners, the Egypt Public Information Center (PIC) of the World Bank, the Tunis International Center for Environmental Technologies (CITET), the Ministry of Tourism of Egypt, the Egyptian Hotels Association (EHA), the Governorate of Alexandria the Governorate of Matrouh.
