CEDARE jointed “Water as a Human Right”, March 20th, 2018 at the 8th World Water Forum in Brazil

Image may contain: 3 people, people smilingKhaled AbuZeid, CEDARE Water Resources Director, indicated during the panel discussion jointed by Brazil, SIWI, and Nepal on "Water as a Human Right" which was held on March 20th, 2018 at the 8th World Water Forum in Brazil, that water Scarcity, vulnerability and risks to transboundary waters, political unrest, war, terrorism, and human displacements are affecting the human right to water and sanitation in the Arab Region. He added that targeted subsidies, cross subsidies, proper volumetric metering, Public Private Partnership, effective regulators, and responsible consumer services, can enhance the realization of the human right to water and sanitation. "National Constitutions should include human right to Water and Sanitation among citizens’ rights", he alluded to. He said that Wastewater Reuse can provide an opportunity for financing sanitation services.
