IUCN-DSS (IUCN-CEDARE), Duration (2007-2010)

IUCN1An agreement was signed between CEDARE and IUCN on July 15, 2007 to produce a project document for implementing system analysis tools to improve water resources management. System tools will be developed to support district managers to assess water needs and to allocate water efficiently within the district. The activities were carried out upon the contract was signed for a duration of 30 months. An amendment to this Memorandum of Understanding was signed on July 15, 2007. An Agreement was signed between CEDARE and IUCN for a project named (System Analysis Tools (DSS)) for improving River Water Management in Selected Districts in Egypt).

Capacity Building for the Arab Water Council (AWC-CEDARE-World Bank), Duration (2007-2009)

Capacity Building for the Arab Water CouncilCapacity Building of the Arab Water Council is to generate changes in national institutions and policies in the Arab Countries of the Middle East and North Africa to enable more efficient water management in the region.  A memorandum of understanding was signed between CEDARE and the World Bank on February 2007 to enhance the AWC organizational capacity to fulfill and sustain its function as the regional water knowledge platform.  Total Budget allocated to the project is $ 300,000.  The activities will be carried out upon signing the contract for duration of 30 months period.

NBI DSS (Nile Basin Initiative-CEDARE), Duration (2007-2008)

NBI DSSThe development of the Nile Basin DSS shall be based on Identified specific needs to support regional cooperation in the Nile Basin and as such should be demand driven and depend on the types of decisions that are required to be made.  The Nile Basin DSS primarily serve as a regional tool while at the same time it has to be relevant at the national level as well. 

Enhance analytical capacity for basin-wide perspective to support development, management, and protection of Nile Basin water resources in an equitable, optimal, integrated and sustainable manner through identification of user's needs and development of DSS design to meet those needs.

Type of services provided:

  • Conducting detailed assessment of the needs of the potential users of the DSS
  • Documenting the requirements of the system
  • Preparing conceptual design of the DSS
  • Preparing a detailed development plan, including a training procurement plan
