“From Action Plans to Implementation” was the main theme of the 5th Arab Roundtable Meeting on Sustainable Consumption & Production (SCP) held in Cairo throughout the period from December 18th to 25th, 2017. CEDARE co-organized the 5th Arab Roundtable in collaboration with the UN Environment, the League of Arab States (LAS) and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA).
CEDARE participated in the panel session for scaling up the safe use of recycled water in the Arab Region. The session was organized by IWMI at the 4th Arab Water Forum organized in Cairo. The session was held on November 28th, 2017. Organizations on the panel included FAO, ICARDA, IWMI and others.

In conclusion of E-Khorda: the SRI incubation programme for e-waste entrepreneurs, a grand event "Startup Nova – Entrepreneurship Explosion" was organized by Innoventures on the 5th of December, 2017 in Cairo. The innovative finalists, who had been endorsed to reach the Startup Reactor’s fourth and final stage, were eligible to present their projects before a high-level panel of experts.
On Friday December 1st, 2017, H. E. Dr. Khaled Fahmy, Minister of Environment, visited 4 hypermarket chains to kick off the packing in biodegradable plastic bags. The event marked the conclusion of the first phase of the National Initiative of Reduction of Plastic Bags and the first popular activity throughout the six past months.
In line with the global focus areas, five water-related themes were selected to form the main stream of discussions at the AWF4. These, in total, have covered a number of critical topics that aimed at achieving a secure Arab water future in compliance with the Global Sustainable Development Goals. These themes were: Water and Sustainable Development; Water, Food, Energy and Climate Nexus; Water Quality and Ecosystems; Sustainable Solutions for Shared Water Resources; Water and Science, Technology and Innovation.
