WMRA & CEDARE co-organize the Consultation Session on Financial Mechanism to incentify SUPB alternatives

CEDARE Showcases SRI Impact on Egypt at the WRF’23

On 5 September 2023, and as part of the WRF’23 in Geneva, Ms. Ghada Moghny, Senior Programme Coordinator at CEDARE delivered a presentation on the “Sustainable Recycling Industries Impact on Egypt”, as part of the scientific session titled “E-waste frameworks, business models and management”. UNEP, UNHABITAT & CEDARE release 3 publications on Egypt’s Fuel Efficiency & Economy and Sustainable Urban Mobility

Although the transport sector is one of the main drivers of social and economic development, it is yet a massive energy consumer and source of emission that needs careful investigation. As one of its mandates is to promote sustainable transportation through technical assistance and research, policy advice, capacity building, and awareness-raising together with its national and international partners, CEDARE partnered with UNEP and UNHABITAT to conduct three publications to add to its vast production of thorough studies on Cleaner Fuels and Vehicles and sustainable transportation at large for Egypt as well as for the MENA region. 148 Egyptian Green & Blue Entrepreneurs taking the extra mile inspired by SwitchMed’s “GMB Training Programme”

Within the framework of “Egypt’s SwitchMed Down the Nile Project to support Sustainable Economy and Green and Blue Entrepreneurship”, 8 training workshops on SwitchMed’s Green Business Model were conducted throughout the past eight months. Each workshop included 5 sessions over a period of 4 to 6 weeks, during which entrepreneurs developed their green business models. Read more…

Adopting the Swiss model: CEDARE conducts TOT on E-waste Recycling Conformity Assessment under SRI

The Sustainable Recycling Industries – SRI Project in Egypt – has organized a 7-days TOT on E-waste Recycling Conformity Assessment in Cairo in June 2023. The training was delivered by experts from DSS and EMPA in Switzerland in collaboration with the SRI Egypt team and aimed at building the capacities of 20 calibers qualifying them to audit Egyptian e-waste recyclers.

SwitchMed Project confers “Plastic Pollution Control” in its first Round Table

“Plastic Pollution Control” was the title of the Round Table on Sustainable Consumption and Production co-convened by CEDARE, WMRA & UNEP on May 9, 2023. As a global priority, Plastic Pollution Control comes as well on top of the Egyptian government’s national agenda today. The Round Table, which was held back-to-back with the Launching event of SwitchMed II Project at Semiramis InterContinental Hotel, Cairo, brought together 85 stakeholders and experts from relevant ministries including the Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Trade & Industry, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Transport, Suez Canal Authority, international developmental organizations, large supermarket chains and big retailers, financial institutions, technology centers, chemical and plastic manufacturers affiliated to the Federation of Egyptian Industries, FMCG manufacturers and retailers and academia.
